Legal Metrology Field has become very important as consumers have become very vigilant and started to complain to department. For imported items, the custom department started to ask for copy of registration which is mandatory for all companies who are dealing in packaged products as manufacturer, packer or importer.

The legal metrology act is central act and is implemented at state level. All offences are registered under Criminal Procedure Code. So once the case has been lodged in court, all Directors have to declare that criminal cases are pending against them.
